What's up, you guys? Welcome back to the podcast. I am really excited to be here. I had just like a really great morning. I woke up early and went to the gym and came back and I was like, you know what, like we're early birds, me and my whole family. In fact, my aura ring was like, your chronotype is morning. And I was like, yes, it is because we love being up early.
And so I took them on a walk this morning to see some ducks in this local canal by our house. And then I had a breakthrough call and a private client call and I'm just feeling really grateful. And today I actually found an old journal from 2020, which is crazy. Just like a few days before I had my daughter Lainey. Lainey's a 2020 baby. And it was a wild time.
I had to get tested for COVID and all sorts of stuff when I had Lainey, but it was really cool to find some of these entries. Actually, like I'm going to read some of it to you. I used to write these Abundant Morning Thoughts. I must have been practicing Money Mindset stuff, which, you know, I joke that it never really ends, which is true. But like listen to these.
These are so good from 2020. My 2020 self. Very, very pregnant. I had Lainey on August 24th, 2020, and this is August 21st, 2020. So like three days before I had my baby. And I'm writing, abundance flows to me and through me. I am a money magnet. Clients come in anticipated and unanticipated ways. Clients love paying me in full. Money comes into my life in ways known and unknown. Money is safe to have, keep, and spend. It's easy to make money.
Clients ask how they can work with me. Opportunity is everywhere. The more I serve, the more I earn. My business easily brings in $20K a month. I wasn't there yet. In 2020, I wasn't making $20K yet. So it's just interesting to see. I make money by being me. I value the value I create. I enjoy being rich now. The universe wants to send me everything I desire. Clients come to me ready and all in. My business creates massive abundance.
I am worthy and ready to receive massive abundance. And so some of these things were true and some of them were things like I was really living into, if that makes sense. It was like what I wanted. At that point in my business, I had made $20K in a month, but it was not recurring. And what are other things that I remember? Like it felt like I couldn't expect abundance or clients. It didn't feel always easy.
Definitely had moments where it was, but these are the things that I wanted. And so it's just interesting. And then the next day, my journal entry was August 22nd, 2020. Yesterday, I was tested for COVID because I'm scheduled to be induced on Monday. If I don't have this baby before then, I am so excited to meet her. This week, I signed two clients. I've made more than $10,000 this month so far. I feel really good about it.
It'll help our family have some financial security while we adjust to our new normal with baby girl. I feel like I'm a new entrepreneur. I feel powerful and like a co-creator of my life. I make decisions quickly with certainty. I practice really feeling gratitude for my life, past, present, and future. I go on and on about different thoughts I had about business, more morning abundant thoughts must have been something that I was practicing and some like ideas like the coaching mama mindset, money, and motherhood. That was almost what I call my podcast.
It's just like so crazy to see where I was at and what I was thinking about and like the next entry was baby Laney's birth born on August 24th, 2020. She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces like that was like the next entry after that and I tell her birth story. It was just crazy to see that in my journal because so many of the things that I was writing just feel like my norm and it felt like perfect timing to find that journal because today's about lighthouse marketing.
And I think that's something that I got right even then is like I've always lived the lighthouse marketing way the marketing method. I guess because it worked for me in a season when I had young babies and the reason that I wanted to share those stories. I didn't write this in my journal, but I remember posting about it because I had a $15,000 cash month that month the month that Laney was born. She's four now, which is crazy. But the month that she was born.
I remember like taking a picture of her newborn body in my little baby wrap and I was like I had a $15,000 month the month that I had a baby like it felt like such a miracle. It felt like such just like a mind-blowing experience and I'm really glad I'm revisiting it like things happen in perfect timing because what I did was not hustle and force my way to do that.
I've lived Lighthouse marketing because I've had young babies the whole time that I've been growing this business and whether you have young babies or not. That's not really the point. The point is is like you can apply what I'm going to talk about no matter what you have going on in your personal life. And the reason that I love the Lighthouse is it doesn't take a ton of energy like I don't teach like cold DM a hundred people a day. I don't teach that I don't do that.
I'm all for making relationships and I'm all for being available for conversations, but you do not have to hustle and grind to death. I had a young baby. I could even babies right the journal entry that I just read was for my third daughter, right? I had two other babies. I had a four-year-old and a two-year-old and then this new baby and I still had a $15,000 month.
And I'm really proud of that and I did it my way the way that I felt in integrity to my soul the way that I could still be there for the morning and preschool pickup and drop-off and like available. I worked part-time to make that happen. And so it's such a good reminder for me like this stuff works. That was almost five years ago that I wrote that journal entry. I feel like my level of mastery and understanding of the lighthouse principles is at the next level of how I used to teach it.
And so I wanted to share today is going to be about you know, the five tenets of lighthouse marketing but from this place. I always joke like if you worked with me five years ago, it's like you even worked with me. I mean, I'm still the same me, but just my level of understanding and mastery in these things is just at another level because I've lived it and I've coached hundreds of people, maybe thousands of people on it now since five years ago.
And so when I think of lighthouse marketing, there's a reason that I named my signature my core offer the lighthouse mentorship because the lighthouse is very symbolic to me of what I think the world is wanting from wisdom businesses. So if you are building your business in the wisdom economy, whether you're a coach or a creator or a service provider, you know, it doesn't really matter. Lighthouse marketing works for the wisdom economy.
Because as AI gets more prevalent as automations get more obvious as we go more digital and fast pace. I think there is going to be a stronger demand for people to show up a certain way with resonance with service. And so I'm front-loading you because I think this has the potential to change your business. I really do this understanding of being the lighthouse.
And so I have five ideas for you that I want to share and then of course like I'm going to be talking a little bit about lighthouse mentorship at the end of this episode because lighthouse mentorship summer semester is coming which I'm really excited about but without further ado the five tenets of lighthouse marketing.
Number one is we make ourselves available to be found by our dream clients and customers. We have our open signs on for business. What this actually looks like is a social media presence, a book, a podcast, email marketing. It could be YouTube. It could be blogging. I listed a bunch. I don't think you have to do all of them, but I do recommend a few of them. So in my business, I have this podcast. Hello.
I have a book called Quiet Wealth that you can buy on Amazon. I am very active on Instagram @itsambersmith, and I have an email list that I email. I would say kind of regularly and so I'm available. I'm around. I want people to be able to find me who are looking for a coach or a mentor like me. What that means for you is like if you imagine like I was actually giving this example to a client this morning if you imagine a donut shop.
And you go by it and like the lights are off and you can't tell if they're open or not like are you gonna go in to buy doughnuts probably not in our industry the coaching industry the online business industry like we have to show people we are available for business by making yourself available to be found whether that's through email, whether that's your social media, whether that's your podcast or blogging it doesn't matter.
But like you want your people to be able to find you and one of the things we do in lighthouse mentorship is figuring out what platforms make sense for your people, right? I have a client who like works with mostly professional. So she's on LinkedIn. I have a client who's like killing it on threads because of the algorithm there. I have a client who does only word of mouth, but she keeps in contact with people through email and through her network.
I have someone who does almost only email marketing. So she runs ads and does email marketing. There's other people who do mostly Instagram like me people with podcasts. It doesn't really matter where but you are making yourself available to be found digitally the easiest way to make yourself available to be found. That's principle number one of being a lighthouse in your marketing: make it easy for people to find you, make yourself available for people to see you shining your light by adding value by creating content.
You do not need to go viral. I've had this conversation so many times like I am not a viral style coach. My content does not reach the masses. I work with a handful of amazing people. My group program has like 25 people like we're not talking about a ton of people in my business. I will cross milestones this year that I used to not dream of being possible for myself. I've been able to you know, take my family on vacation. I've been able to invest in my own instruction and mentorship and coaching.
I've been able to buy myself a car, you know, like just like amazing things and I don't want to get too caught up in like the money because like I think that's part of it. But like if your business is a portal of prosperity, it's so important to treat it that way and part of making it a portal for prosperity is making yourself available to be found and paid by your dream clients. Okay, that's number one number two is that we honor our own effort and energy and we honor our clients timing.
What I mean by this is like this is the paradox of being a lighthouse is that we really let our clients come to us in their timing. I don't teach forced sales. I don't teach people how to overcome objections or coerce. I don't teach people to like collect the payment on the phone, right? Like, okay, what's your credit card number? And it's not because I don't think it doesn't work. I think those tactics do work. It just never felt good to me.
It never felt good to try to like overcome an objection now coaching offering help asking good questions. Totally if people have fear about investing if people have questions, I will answer it and I will work with them. It's not like I'm heartless or cold but like if someone's like I really can't afford it. I don't try to say that's a mindset issue. I'm like, no, I totally understand that. I totally understand that invest when it makes sense for you and your family, is something that I might say.
And so I think there's a way to build empowering relationships and sell in a way that feels good in a way that works for you and your clients. At least that's been my experience. My business works really well, and I don't feel like I'm hustling. I don't feel like I'm hardcore overcoming objections or hardcore selling because I honor my effort and energy and I really trust their timing and this takes a lot of faith.
It takes a lot of trust in their process and you know, your pipeline of people coming to you and that's something that I think being a lighthouse means to is like you trust the right people are coming in their right timing. I had a client once tell me that she had been watching me for 18 months on social media knowing that she wanted to hire me knowing that one day we would work together for 18 months.
That's a year and a half and so being a lighthouse in your marketing is a long-term strategy, which secretly is the only way to build a business, right? Like there are no get-rich-quick businesses and if there are and they're probably lying or it's not the business that you want. If you want the kind of business that's built on integrity and relationships and service, there's going to be a period of time where you have to develop trust with your people and that's just part of the process. That's lighthouse marketing.
The third tenet is something that I've said often which is need nothing. We serve in the spirit of abundance. If you think about like a harbor with the ocean and the ships sailing, maybe it's stormy seas. Maybe it's dark. Maybe it's cloudy. The lighthouse shines its light bright and it doesn't need anything from the boats. It's there to serve the boats. That's how I operate in my business like truly and I let the clients who feel drawn to working with me closer come closer.
I make myself available to answer calls, respond to DMs, follow up with emails, right? It's not like I cannot be reached but I'm not here because I need you. I'm here to offer my insight and my support and my thoughts and my stories and my experience and the things that I've studied in the spirit of service for you. That's why I'm here and that deeply serves my business because there is an element of reciprocity. What I put out into the world, I do get back in different ways.
And so whether that's through a paying client or a referral or people sharing with their audience or a seed is planted with someone else or my client tells one of their clients about them or whatever, I believe that I'm going to be taken care of that I am provided for and so the way that I show up as a lighthouse in my marketing is that I need nothing and that energy is a very useful energy and it's hard to teach this. And so it's something that comes up in session sometimes or like in my groups. How do I need nothing?
And I think if I had to share one question that would be so useful to ponder to journal about is this. Write this down. If you just have a phone, write it on your notes app or something. What do I need to need nothing? What do I need to need nothing from my business or from my clients? Like for me in the beginning of my business. It was like I needed a job. I worked VIP Kid so that I didn't need my business to work in order for my family to be okay. That was one situation.
As my business has evolved as my mind has evolved a lot of the things that I do to need. Nothing is inner work is spiritual deep work so that I can come from a place of overflow and abundance and truth-telling without needing my clients to sign without needing them to say a certain thing without it needing to happen fast. I'm so rooted in my belief that it's all working out for me, that clients are coming because they always do that.
My business is working that I can show up in a way that is I think very abundant, that like I really don't need anything. I'm here to serve and it doesn't mean that I don't sell it doesn't mean that I don't accept money. It doesn't mean that I'm like this monk in a cave. It means that I don't need anything energetically and so I'm here to pour into my people. One of the ways that I do that is like I get my own coaching and mentorship. So I have someone that can pour into me.
The other thing that I do is like I take really good care of myself. I have boundaries. I go on walks. I sleep, I eat, I meditate, I read, I journal, I have great conversations with my husband. I take time away from work so that I really don't need something for my business. I am here to pour into my business energetically and physically that is number three need nothing serve in the spirit of abundance.
Number four is that business is a co-creation that sounds really beautiful, but I'm going to tell you what that really means business is a co-creation means that you have to experiment and fail and let the marketplace tell you what they want from you. And what I mean by that is like when you have a launch that falls flat last week. We talked about what to do when nothing is working right when you have a launch that falls flat or someone's not buying your product or you know, you get five no’s in a row for consults.
That's a signal to you that something is off in the co-creation that you are doing with your clients and with your audience. It could be the words you're using, it could be the promise that you're helping them get, it could be the client avatar isn't quite right. It could be that your energetics are off. Maybe you're teaching something that isn't fully embodied and they can feel it. There's a number of factors that can go into why something's not working.
But when you look at it as co-creation you take accountability for why it's not working you hear your audience when they don't buy you do the work to either show up in a way that they understand or you keep showing up until people buy you keep solving problems ahead of time. You keep learning the skills of business. One of the things that I say in Lighthouse mentorship a lot is that business is just a stack of learnable skills.
That's part of co-creation learning how to share your message and share your offers in a powerful way is a skill learning how to market on social media and post on Instagram stories and write compelling content and create a landing page and write emails all skills that you can learn that's part of the co-creation process. It's like the paradox.
It's like two things can be true at one time business works when you show up with humility, but you also have to show up with authority. How can you show up with authority and humility that's represented by the lighthouse? It's one of the reasons that I love this metaphor so much. If you look up images of lighthouses, some of them are beautiful. Some of them are pretty plain. The lighthouse doesn't need anything.
The lighthouse shows up with authority because it's the only thing on the coast that's as bright and obvious as it is. It stands alone. It is available for the boats in the harbor so that they can get there safely. They want to go to the destination safely. So they use the lighthouse as a marker. You are the same but there has to be both. Humility is like I'm not better than anyone else, but authority is like I know I can help you. I'm here for you.
Humility is you are just as capable as me of so many things. Authority is here's what I know. Here's how I can help. Here's my experience. Here's my training that I can help you get this thing or create this thing or achieve this thing. And so I think that's the paradox that has worked in my business is like, hey, I'm just like you. I'm not like better than you, but I know things. I've experienced things. I've studied things that can help you. I'm here for you.
Authority and humility is one of the ways that we co-create. The other aspects of co-creation is like honestly studying online business, which is what I bring. I feel like Lighthouse mentorship is like a combination of traditional business strategy with the inner work so that you need nothing and belief work and transformative inner work. Okay. So the next time that you get a no or a launch flops or something doesn't go well, it could be you just need more time.
It could be that maybe one, you know, part of the wording on the sales page wasn't right. It could be that the name of the program wasn't quite aligned. It could be that it was just the wrong time of year. It's all co-creation. And so the biggest piece I can share is like keep going, keep experimenting, keep iterating. That's part of co-creation too. Because sometimes our audience just needs to learn like this is a thing and this is how I can help.
And I trust you because you keep showing up. Sometimes that's part of what we need to do too. The last tenet that I wrote down is we lead, we don't save. I'll say that again because it's really powerful, especially if you have history of like codependency or people-pleasing. We lead but we don't save. We are here to lead. We are here to inspire. We are here to serve. But there's a difference between being a lighthouse and being like a rowboat that has an EMT on it.
And I think knowing what you're meant to do and I speak this from a place of experience. If we believe that our clients need saving, we treat them like they don't have personal power. And the way that I like to inspire my clients is like they have unlimited amounts of personal power, the personal power that can change their life. It'll lead them to creating miracles. It'll lead them to learning skills and taking action that they've never taken before.
And if I save them, the message is like I don't think you can do this without me. That's not what the lighthouse represents. The lighthouse represents like I know you can get here. Here I am, steadfast. I'm here for you. I'm shining my light. I'm making myself known and I believe in you, in your ability to meet me, in your ability to act, your ability to create. So we lead, we show up, we do the work, we make offers, we sell, we serve, we, you know, invite in our marketing, but we don't save them. We're not here to save them.
I think you can create a dynamic that ends up being exhausting for you as the coach or the creator and disempowers the client. We want empowered relationships with our clients where we're like, you're amazing. You can do this. Here's how I can help. Here's what I can offer. Here's what I can bring to the table, but you in and of yourself are amazing. That's the lighthouse way. And so put these together, right?
We make ourselves available to be found by our dream clients. We honor our own effort and energy, but we also honor our clients timing. We need nothing. We serve in the spirit of abundance. We see business as a co-creation and we lead, we don't save. These five things come together in a very powerful way where your audience trusts you, your audience resonates with you, they buy from you, They refer you, but you do it in a way where they are coming to you. You're not chasing the clients.
The clients are coming to you because they see you as that authority and humility thing we talked about with being the lighthouse, right? They see your ability to help. They trust you. They want you in their corner. That's lighthouse marketing. This is like the structure of what I teach inside the lighthouse mentorship. Summer semester is coming. So summer semester is a shorter-term and light version of the lighthouse mentorship.
So there's going to be a few less calls because it's summer. We're going to hyper focus on three things, which is like your golden ascension offers. So like the offers that are like energetically encoded, the offers that feel good to you to sell, the kinds of offers that feel easy for you to make. We're also going to talk about soulful selling, the way that I sell on my calls and the way that honestly I'm selling right now haha. Then the third piece is audience alchemy.
So the reason that I love this phrase audience alchemy is because it doesn't matter how big your audience is. I have a smaller audience. I have clients with ginormous audiences. It doesn't matter. How do you create offers that meet your clients where they are? And how do you sell to your audience in a way that makes you hyper profitable? That's going to be our focus this summer. The bonus is that I'm giving you a Gene Keys program that I'm going to be doing this summer.
This summer, I'm going to launch a delight program called Unlock Your Abundance and it's all about the Gene Keys. Which I'm really excited about. That'll happen later this summer. But if you join Lighthouse Mentorship, you get Unlock Your Abundance included. So I will have Allyse link the Lighthouse Mentorship summer semester in the show notes. You can also go to itsambersmith.com/lighthouse and get the early bird discount, which is fun.
And we're going to start in June. And so I'm going to be talking about this a lot over the coming weeks, but I believe in Lighthouse marketing. I think it's changed my business. I have a steady stream of people who are interested in working with me because of this. It's not an overnight success program. It's not something that's going to instantly change your business.
It's something that is a long-term steadfast integrity way of marketing and building a business where people are coming to you and reaching out to you because they trust you because you've already served them because they want you. They resonate with you regardless of how many people are in your niche. How many other people do exactly what you do, like they find you resonant.
They trust you about your message and the way that you serve and the way that you show up in the world. That's what I want for you. So if it aligns check out Lighthouse Mentorship or book a breakthrough call with me. If you're not sure if it's a good fit we can talk about it and I will see you very soon. Thanks for being here. Bye.
