Hey, you guys, welcome back to the podcast. I'm excited to be with you today. Today's episode is inspired by a group coaching cohort that I am wrapping up called The Art of Impossible. And it was such a fun cohort. If you're listening to this podcast, and you were in it, I had so much fun over these past few months, creating what used to feel impossible, doing things that maybe you've never done before, stepping into the unknown, trying things that maybe feel intimidating or scary and just like living into the edge. It's been so fun. And I've really enjoyed it.
And so I've been thinking about just what it means to create the impossible. In fact, the cohort was inspired by a book called The Art of Impossible by Stephen Kotler, which is all about flow and peak performance. And of course, I do my own twist with a little bit of spirituality and abundance mindset and intuition and flow and acting from love. But anyway, it was such a fun cohort. And so I had been thinking about creating the impossible and I was like, it'd be fun to write a newsletter about it. And so I wrote a newsletter about it.
And now I'm here creating this podcast to talk about it. So today we're going to jump into three secrets to create the impossible. And as I was reflecting on the new year, many of you also are reflecting on the new year, I realized that I had, it's not that I don't look at my numbers, because I do look at my numbers. But I didn't realize just how far I'd come. You know, when I started my online business, let's see, in 2018, I was nursing my baby Riley, I had a two year old, my two year old is now eight turning nine. And I didn't even have my third baby, which I have now.
And I had no online experience, you know, I had dropped out of preparing to become a therapist, I was in the middle of school, I was still fresh, you know, in life and in so many ways. And I had a huge vision, I was hungry for success, I wanted to work, I wanted a career that made sense for being a mom, right? I always wanted that beautiful blend of motherhood and a career that was meaningful to me. And so I started my business with like a vision, like a huge vision of making 100k, which like that felt totally impossible to me.
At the time, I really just started my business to make ends meet. It was not like we were in, we did not have a lot of resources. I drove this old car, my husband was working his butt off, we were scrimping and saving, and things just were really tight. And so to see where I started, you know, in my business, I was making like less than 600 bucks a month. And that was still life changing. I remember making $600 a month, because it replaced my income from something called VIP kid. And that was life changing for me to start making an income that I could rely on.
And now fast forward to today, you know, I make multiple six figures, I do one on one coaching, I have groups, I work 20 to 25 hours a week, I have this podcast, you know, I write, I have group coaching programs, I have a mastermind, I've done courses, like I just feel like it is such a transformational journey that I've been on. And I am so grateful for the mentors and the resources and the teachers that helped me get here. And I really wanted to pay it back. And so sharing this episode, it's not going to be anything really tactical, it's going to be shifts, it's going to be a perspective, it's going to be things that I actually think made a difference.
Because I looked this up the other day, I have been able to quadruple what I thought I would make as a therapist. And it almost makes me cry because where I started my business was so hard financially for me and my family. I learned everything I could get my hands on about life coaching about online business, I sold courses for like basketball plays, I sold PDFs, I sold coaching sessions, I tried to make money blogging, like I just tried so many things. I was so scrappy because I had to be and I'm so grateful I didn't quit.
Because I would have never imagined that I would be here today like I'm in my own office that exists in my home. My girls are actually about to come home from school and then I'm gonna wrap up my workday and like go hang out with them and make dinner, watch a show with my husband Wesley. And I have peace of mind. I create an incredible income. And I wanted to share the three things that I think has made the biggest difference so that I could take my kids to Disney World and have a nanny and invest in my business support, invest in my home and do work that I freaking love, right? Like it's not like I'm doing work that I hate. I love my career.
I love the career path that I created for myself, which is the one-person business model that I help my clients really refine for themselves. They do not follow my path. I teach principles.
As an example, I have a client who is kind of moving away from one-on-one coaching. And I love that for her. Whereas I'm like, I'll probably always have one-on-one coaching as an offer, not the only thing that I do in business, but definitely a leg of my business, right? A pillar of my business. And I have some clients who only want to do one-on-one coaching and everything in between.
And so I don't teach my clients how to do what I do. I help them find their soul path to tap into their own wisdom and creativity and listen to what God's telling them to do for their family. And there's so many different ways to create success that I don't want this episode to be, here's what I did. So you should do exactly these things. You're going to notice I'm not going to share like step one, step two, step three. I'm going to be sharing principles so that you can apply it in your own life and do what you feel called to do. I have this belief that like, I really do believe it's good for the world when I get what I want.
And I teach my clients this principle because most of us are not taught that, especially as women, we are not taught that it is good for the world to get what we want. And so to create our own career path, it feels completely impossible because most of us want a career that benefits the world and benefits us financially. And to be sitting here today, obviously I still have my own dreams and goals. There's still things that I haven't accomplished. There's still things that I'm working on creating, but to kind of reflect on 2024 and be like, wow, damn, I did a good job.
And I'm grateful for all the people that taught me and mentored me. I'm grateful for the clients that are a part of that. I'm grateful for my team members that supported me in the backend and my brand and my pages and my social media and my books that made this happen with me. I feel like it is the coolest thing in the world to see co-creation in business. There's no way I could do it alone. And I definitely didn't do it alone. I think sometimes the one person business idea and concept is a little misleading. Just because I am a one person business does not mean I do it alone because I don't. I have people that support me in my home. I have people that support me in my business. My husband is very much a support to me.
I had my own coaches and mentors. I have people who helped me, like I said, social media, admin, helping me with my books, formatting, so many things. Even though I run my business as a personal brand, as a one person, I have so much support. It wouldn't have been possible without all the things that I've learned, all the books that I've read, all the people who have shined their light for me. And so I just wanted to kind of say that because I think it can be easy to think, you know, I have something special that you don't and that's not true. And that's what this podcast is about today is how do you create the impossible for you?
This episode will serve two purposes. One, it's going to document what I've created because another crazy thing that I realized is I've made over $800,000 in my business, which was wild to see on paper. You know, the first few years of my business, I didn't make much money. I mean, I made money that changed my family life, but nothing that felt shocking. But to see that number on my screen, like over $800,000 really blew my mind, especially since I work, you know, anywhere from 15 to 25 hours a week. And I love what I do. And I know I'm just getting started.
And yeah, I'm just really grateful. So the first thing that I'm talking about is the importance of spiritual grit. One of the things that I think is a misconception, especially in the world of manifestation, which is a world that I have studied and teach the idea of like your thoughts become things or the conscious creation, right? Where you choose thoughts on purpose, where things manifest into your life. I think there's this error that happens where it's like easy or it happens kind of magically and it can feel so magical.
But I love this term spiritual grit because it's kind of like the intersection of two worlds, the intersection of manifestation and belief work and things happening synchronistically. So like things are unpredictable, but also this idea of kind of like developing a hardcore mindset, right? Of like grit, staying in it until it works. And so to develop spiritual grit, you need a clear direction or vision for what you want, a willingness to do the inner work, a path for experimentation, the ability to learn and adjust when you encounter setbacks, which will inevitably happen, the drive to keep going when it looks like it's not working, and the spiritual perspective to find joy and meaning along the way.
Because one of the things that I think I robbed myself of in the beginning of my journey when things were not working as well as I had hoped or were not working like I wanted them to, I kind of was miserable. And I held happiness out like a carrot. So what I mean by that is like, okay, once I get my business off the ground, I will be happy. It's like inserting I will be happy when. And I delayed a lot of my joy thinking I couldn't be happy until I achieved some certain milestones, which is so funny because now I teach the exact opposite, right? I think you should figure out how to be happy along the way.
I think spiritual grit combines like ideas of spirituality, right? Where you're present and focusing on gratitude and you're embodied. I guess really the big word is present and connected to life. And you're joyful and you're full of meaning and non judgmental, all these things that I learned along the way I didn't have at the beginning. And so to me, spiritual grit is like, yes, develop the strength to keep going. Yes, develop the mindset of excellence, and peak performance, and doing things until it works, which is a concept that I've taught on this podcast for years, doing things until it works.
But the secret is, is like, it can be a spiritual experience where you enjoy every minute where you're not every minute, that's an ideal, but where you're enjoying most of it, and you have a lot of meaning and you feel connected to life and to the universe and to God. And you feel connected to your clients and your audience, right? And your family and you feel like, faithful and propelled by a vision. You don't have to sacrifice or be miserable to get what you want. I don't believe that. And so that kind of leads us into the second aspect of creating the impossible. Because once you have spiritual grit, it's like, okay, I know how to be happy.
I know how to have peace of mind. One of the concepts that I taught, I don't even know a couple years ago now is Zen ambition, right? It's like having ambition, but being Zen on a day to day basis, having a huge vision for your life, but like, enjoying the morning time with your kids or like enjoying the book and enjoying journaling, looking outside and just like finding awe in the sky or the trees, right? Like that Zen feeling, you can have both at the same time. And that kind of leads me to the second secret, which is developing an abundant heart. And so when I started my journey, I was a blogger, I was researching SEO, ads and funnels, which is so funny now because it's so different than what I do and what it does so differently than what I teach.
But during that time, I found teachings that really transformed my life on the more spiritual side of the internet. And this is kind of related to spiritual grit, but it's different. And I would say this is having an abundance mindset, right? Having an abundance perspective on life. And so I started seeing business differently. It wasn't just about metrics and statistics. It wasn't even just about an income that I was shooting for. It really was seeing business as a vessel for me and my family to increase our prosperity, to increase the prosperity of my clients. Having an abundant heart helped me show up meaningfully, even in the beginning.
Like I said, there was early, early, early in my journey. I didn't have this perspective, but I quickly found spiritual teachings because when I was stuck at $600 a month with a tiny audience, I found the book A New Earth. And that book changed my life in so many profound ways by Eckhart Tolle. And it helped me make peace with my tiny audience and my small income. But I showed up with a willingness to serve and I figured out how to be a resource to people. And it changed everything because I stopped judging myself for being where I was in the journey and just like really got devoted to developing myself as a value creator.
And doing that work of cultivating an abundant heart grew my income exponentially. Not overnight, but quicker than I would have expected. And so here's some ideas for how you can cultivate an abundant heart in the work that I did, right? I became aware of myself, my thoughts, my patterns, and my judgments. I started to do the work to release those thoughts, patterns, and judgments that didn't serve me and it didn't serve the world. I began, and this was really big for Creating the Impossible, I started to see infinite possibilities everywhere.
I think this is one of the big reasons that my clients hire me is like, I believe really big for my clients and I see possibilities where they can't see them and I help them create them, right? Whether that's an income increase, even just like peace of mind, or relationships, or just like the magical feeling of the day-to-day, right? Like I help them see new possibilities where they can't see them and that's because of the work I did, I mean have been doing for years. Another thing to create and cultivate an abundant heart is believe it is good for the world when you get what you want. I would tattoo that on your brain because it's so not taught, but it's so true.
It's good for the world when you get what you want because then you can be a bigger blessing and as you steward more, you are given more if you steward it well. And so when you think about this, it's good for the world when you get what you want. In the context of business, it means it's good for the world when clients sign with you because their life gets better. It's good for the world when you develop prosperity because you create experiences for your kids and you give to causes that you care about, and you take care of your house cleaner, and you do things that make the world better. Another thing that is talked about so often, but I mean we can go a million directions, but choosing love instead of fear.
If you haven't read A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, which is a classic, I highly recommend you do. It's so easy to get dominated by the world's ideas of protection and you have to be careful and there's so much fear. And so choosing love is hard and it's kind of, I wouldn't say a cliche thing to say, but it's hard to wrap your mind around until you begin doing the work, right? You are either choosing love or you are choosing fear moment by moment. So we can break this down really micro. Let's say you want to post on social media but you're nervous about rejection, right? You're nervous that someone will read your post and not like you or you're nervous that someone will read your post and reject you.
In that moment, you have a choice, love or fear. You can fear their rejection, fear being misunderstood, or you can love your people, the people that resonate, and serve them. And that is oversimplified, of course. There's a lot of nuance there. I'm not saying that you are a fearful person, but I think every day we have opportunities to choose to live in love or fear. And there's a lot more that I'll be talking about in that regard because this has been on my mind so much. Having an abundant heart means choosing love. Love for yourself, love for others, love for the vision, love for the family, love for the world.
And being a portal of prosperity, being someone to shine their light, being someone that lifts and serves and makes themself available and makes himself a resource for the world, that takes a lot of love. Another thing to cultivate an abundant heart is summon the spirit of gratitude and awe. Another thing that I did was study great works and mentors who expanded my mind, right? So reading books, joining masterminds, getting coaching myself, immersing myself in the world of spirituality, of presence, of philosophy, of high performance, of spiritual grit that helped me develop an abundant heart. And the last thing I'll say is to stay humble and egoless.
This is hard. I tend to resonate with mentors and authors and coaches who stay humble despite their massive success. That's something that I want for my life, right? Because one of my favorite quotes is from Rick Rubin, and he says, success occurs in the privacy of the soul. And so what's interesting about massive numbers and lots of social media followers, and not that there's anything wrong with it, but I think sometimes we lose touch of what success means to us. And I've seen people do this. It's like the classic person who, you know, they build this huge business and then their marriage fails. Or, and this isn't even a judgment, I'm just observing what happens sometimes.
Or like, they get massively successful and then it's like you meet them and they're not who you think they are. That's sad to me. And so one of the things that I have been, you know, contemplating and making a priority in my life is like, how do I really release my ego as I get more successful? Like, by the world standard, as my business gets bigger, as I make more money, as I serve more people, as I become more well-known, how can I stay humble and egoless? And that isn't ideal because the ego comes with us, right? It's not like I don't have an ego. The most enlightened people have egos. It's just being aware of it. It's not ego-num, right?
It's ego-less. So less of my ego, less of that frame of mind and wanting to be validated and wanting to be thought of a certain way and truly stay humble enough to keep serving. I think that's on my mind too. I shared a quote in my newsletter from Brennan Burchard in his book Millionaire Messenger, and he says, student first, teacher second, servant always. And I really resonate with that. Like, that's the kind of person that I want to be is like, how do I stay in the servant mentality? I think that that's how you have less ego when it's not about you, which is something we'll talk about in this next section, which I think is probably the more practical section of this idea, these three secrets. And I say this a lot. I say this on my Instagram.
I say this in this podcast. I say it in my programs, right? If you're in Lighthouse Mentorship, we're talking about this a lot. A quantum leap in income is created because of a quantum leap in value that you create for others. When I started my business, I was making barely any money, but I was focused on the wrong things, right? I was building unnecessary funnels, learning skills that weren't mission-focused, like ads. Like, I studied ads, which was so silly now. And I spent a lot of time comparing myself, researching, kind of like, oh, they're doing it this way, right? Like, experimenting with business models that weren't really lined up with what I wanted to create.
And so I really wanted this, like, quantum leap experience. I had heard so many people have this, like, overnight success, right? But one of the things that I was missing when I was studying ads, when I was getting lost in the sea of, you know, self-help business entrepreneurship comparison, was that we get by giving, not by learning. And I'm going to say that again, because many of you learn a lot. You're like me. I study so much. I learn. I consume. But one of the big ahas was that I would never have a quantum leap just because of what I was learning. I could have so many knowledge little tidbits in my mind, and I do.
You've probably heard me share quotes and ideas from all the books that I've read or the mentors that I've worked with, but none of that made me an income increase. I learned to give. So as I started learning, I started translating that into how can I be of service? And so, yes, I learned skills and concepts and psychological tools and coaching perspectives and business tactics, but they didn't really leave me anywhere new. But when I started using all my knowledge and experience to be a blessing to others and create real value for the people in my sphere, everything started to change.
I started to grow my income exponentially, and this happened a few years ago when I started really seeing learning wouldn't make my income increase, but using my learning to help other people around me, that started growing my income. And so that's when my clients are renewing over and over again. I started getting a lot of referrals. My network grew. I started speaking at events by invitation. People found me online, and like people were asking me how I could help them. One of my favorite books actually talks about this concept. It's called Happier Than God by Neal Donald Walsh, and he talks about this true formula for the proper use of personal creation. Another way you can think about this is the proper use of the law of attraction, if you're into that.
And his quote is, to create a happy, peaceful, joyous life for everyone whose life you touch and for you in that order. This changed my life. To create a happy, peaceful, joyous life for everyone whose life you touch and for you in that order. I had studied law of attraction and manifestation and making quantum leaps and money for a long time, but reading that line truly did change everything for me because I stopped focusing on how I could make money. I stopped worrying like, I'm going to make this much money. I'm going to do this. I'm going to manifest it. And I started getting obsessed with helping other people achieve their dreams.
My content began being focused on other people getting what they wanted. My conversations were really about helping people. I answered questions. I started sharing all the resources, unveiling all my secrets. I solved problems. I offered solutions. And I created pathways for people who wanted to create the impossible and resonated with the way that I taught that. And it came back tenfold to me. But that's not what I focused on, right? I focused on solving problems for other people. And so here are some practical ways to add more value to your people. Talk about your potential client's problems because this is empathy.
For a long time, I hesitated to talk about people's problems because I didn't want it to feel like a manipulative marketing tactic. But one of the things I've learned is talking about people's problems is actually empathetic. They will know that you understand them. And so don't be afraid to talk about where people are getting stuck, where people are making mistakes, where they don't know what to do, and the consequences of that. It's okay to talk about your potential client's problems. The other thing that you should do to create more value is to create actual solutions for them and share them to create more touch points for people to interact with you.
So the more that you create solutions and then share them, you're creating touch points of value for them to see that you are who you say you are. You are the person to help them. In my own businesses, it looked like Voxer experiences, teaching masterclasses online, doing smaller group coaching programs, answering questions in my DMs, doing live events, letting people have more experiences with me where I'm actually solving their problems. Another thing that I think is just a good exercise is think about what your client is stressed about and solve it. Spend time thinking and empathizing with your client and then actually creating a solution for them.
The last thing I'll share here is to develop your consistency muscle. Be the lighthouse. So sharing your processes and what works for you is how you do that. This podcast is an actual example of that, right? I'm sharing what has worked for me in the hopes that it works for you, but you have to make yourself visible so that your people can find you, right? I think one of the things that makes us valuable as a one person business is that we shine our light so people can find us. We can't go save them. We can't go do the work of like tracking them down, but we can make ourselves consistently available as a resource.
As they're on their way, you know, whatever result they're trying to create, we can be there for them. And I think the more people you can be a resource for in the unknown, the more your income will grow in the known sphere. So I teach a concept called the three fields, which is like potentiality, possibility, and predictability. I have had to become very comfortable with helping people in potentiality, which means many of you listening to this, I don't even know you're listening. I know my clients. I know my private clients and my mastermind clients and my group coaching clients. Like I know them.
They message me and I see their name and I know I'm helping them. That's in the predictable. But for people on the podcast, I don't know you. I mean, I love that. I love it. And every once in a while I hear from you or I'll get a message. But for the large majority of the time that I spend podcasting, I don't even know who is listening and who is being impacted by my words. That is how you create a quantum leap in income. You have to start doing more of that where you are solving people's problems and you don't even know them. That's being the lighthouse.
And so all of this being said, I have learned to genuinely love this game because when you give with an abundant heart, it always comes back in expected and unexpected ways. And so my biggest, I guess, caution to you is don't get consumed with what you're going to get. So easy to do that. Get consumed or be a little bit obsessed with how you can be a better giver, how you can shine your light a little brighter, how you can help more people in the unknown, because that's what will make your business blossom. Okay, some final questions for you to consider. What if it isn't about you? Just notice how this lands. What if it isn't about you?
What if business was about being a blessing to people in the sphere of your influence, known and unknown? What if money was just a byproduct of that? Some food for thought for you. I hope you enjoyed this episode. If you want to create your impossible, I am starting another cohort of The Art of Impossible. So keep your eyes and ears open as I release more information about that. We had so much fun in the first cohort and I'm really excited to do it again.
I think creating the impossible is so fun. It is the game of expansion. It is the game of life.
And it's about challenging yourself and seeing what you're capable of, not in a place of like you're going to be better or more worthy in the future, but just because it's fun, just because that's what you're here for, is like soul expansion. Okay, thank you for participating. Thank you for listening. Thank you for sharing this episode if it resonates. And I will talk to you in another episode. Bye.
