Hey you guys, welcome back to the podcast. I'm feeling just full of love and full of gratitude. I just got back from a retreat with my clients in Sedona. And it was just an awesome experience. We had so much fun, and we did a lot of deep work. We did a lot of coaching, a lot of chatting, a lot of creating consciously.
And it was just like really inspiring to be together. We were at a really incredible Airbnb. We went out to eat together. We shared our dreams and pains and growth and just had so much fun. On Saturday afternoon, I coached for like four hours or something like that. And everyone got a hot seat and it was just like a really cool experience. I'm really happy about how it went and I'm very grateful for the ladies who came and just had a great experience. And so this podcast is coming on the tail end of that. And I'm excited to be chatting with you guys.
I just feel really grateful for the work I get to do. We've talked about that before about being in the miracle, but I really am in the miracle of what I get to do and what I want to help you do, in whatever level you want to do it at. Wherever you're at, I'm hoping that this episode today will help inspire you and give you some tactical ways of growing in a one person business.
Cause I consider myself a one person business. I hired contractors and I hire help and support, but it really is like the Amber Smith brand, right? And a lot of you guys resonate with that, where it's like, it's your name that is the brand. And so today is going to be about that. And it's called, “Digitize Your Consciousness, Monetize Your Mind.”
And to me, this is what we do as creators. And so, I was thinking about when I was a brand new life coach. I was in what I think of as like a beautiful bubble of bliss. I wasn't really aware of the coaching industry in general because I was just new. Like I just decided to call myself a life coach.
I wasn't really exposed to online business at all. And what that did for me, I really see that as a huge advantage, is that I didn't really have thoughts like the market is so saturated or there's already someone doing that because I really wasn't exposed to anyone doing what I wanted to do.
And so I created based on what I was learning, like I would just read a book and then share my thoughts. And I didn't realize what a huge hack that was for success until later. And we're going to talk about how to do that for yourself because the truth is no one is completely original. So I never really got cut up in that. I wasn't trying to be original.
I was just trying to share the thoughts that I was learning in my own way. And here's the deal, there's more and more creators and coaches and thought leaders popping up online every day. So, how do you stand out? How do you get people to become your clients and actually pay you? How do you actually make money?
So, the big idea that I want you to take away is you monetize your mind by digitizing your consciousness. So we've been in the age of information for years. And what this looks like is knowledge workers, creators, coaches, writers. We're all flooding the internet with value, which I think is so cool.
And some people get the game of business and go on to make millions. Some people multi multi multi millions of dollars. It's crazy and so cool. Some people stay stuck for years. And then eventually they burn out and quit or try something different. So if you want to monetize your mind and build a profitable solopreneur or personal brand business online, it's not enough just to publish ideas, right?
Or else everyone who's publishing ideas would be fully booked and making millions, but that's obviously not the case. And so when I say digitized consciousness, like the written content, social media, podcasts, videos, that doesn't mean that they're all created equally. And so the good news is there's patterns that you can learn, which we're going to talk about, where you can emulate the people who are successful and avoid burning out and quitting.
I like to think of this like as a blueprint. So I’m calling it like the “Business Blueprint for a Digital Solopreneur.” And so step one is to digitize your consciousness publicly. Create content. And I'm going to add learn copywriting and marketing.
Number two, nurture relationships with abundantly given value. And this is how you build an audience, right? You don't need anything from the people who are following you, you are just truly trying to give and serve because this is how you build trust with the people who are following you. Number three is to learn, and I would add master marketing and sales. And this is where we transform the way people think, that is what marketing and sales is at a basic level.
And so like I said, in step one, even writing content, we really want to learn how to persuade people for good. We want to learn how to write compelling content that gets people to take action. Because like I said earlier, just because you are writing content does not mean that people are paying you. So marketing and sales is how you get people from consuming your content into a paid container with you.
Step number four is to promote your offers to your audience. Tell people about the solutions you create. And then number five is you deliver it. You deliver your products and services. You fulfill on your promises.
And I just want to add here, if you have a tiny audience, I would add into that stack DMing people. Like the first time I ever got fully booked was because of DMing people and just being a genuine, kind human. Like I would, as if like we ran into each other at the grocery store. That's how I kind of treat people in my DMs.
It's like, I'm just warm. I don't try to sell hard. It's just like nurturing a relationship. And I really think this is a huge advantage. Like if you think about a big account like Tony Robbins, right? Tony Robbins is not going to be in the DMs with anyone. But you can be. And so this is how you get traction.
This is how you stand out. This is how you nurture those relationships. And I honestly think it makes those five steps work better. So it wasn't really in one, two, three, four, five. So one, digitize your conscious publicly. Two, nurture relationships with abundantly given value. Three, learn marketing and sales. Four, promote your offers to your audience. Five, deliver your products and services.
DMs, I would say works to enhance everything I just said, all five. And so if you're not sending DMS with warm intentions, kind intentions, without trying to convert someone on the first conversation where you're really just loving them. For reference, I would go back to one of my previous episodes.
This is a while ago now, almost a year ago. and I called it NSICL, which is: need nothing, serve, invite, create, lead. That's a great reference for how to treat people, who aren't paying you yet, but like you have a relationship. I think what we have when we have a tiny audience is like, that is our advantage.
The reason that we create content is so people can browse your ideas and get value, right? So like what I love about DMing people and creating content is like, you can have a beautiful private conversation without selling, but then they can go to your profile or read your content and nurturing keeps happening, right?
They feel like they're still building the relationship. And if you've been doing your job right, you're also dropping promotions. So it's like you can sell with your content without needing to sell in the DMs, your content starts to sell for you. I think this feels a lot better for most people. This is also like a place where I feel like I can talk about my 15 minute marketing plan.
If you are a one person business and you are not fully booked or you haven't hit six figures yet, I would do this every day. Respond to five people's Instagram posts or Facebook, doesn't matter, or stories that you follow. Respond to five people's Instagram stories or Facebook, whatever, LinkedIn. Insert the platform that you're on that follow you. Comment on five well known accounts in your industry. Ideally look at the comments that already exist and respond to those.
For reference, I created a whole podcast on this called the 15 minute marketing plan. I highly recommend it. Me and Janessa also talked about it a few weeks ago in my interview with her about Instagram. And so I still do a version of this. Even though my content creates clients and customers for me now, I still nurture relationships through the DMs and it works really well.
I would do that every day. Like I said, if you're not fully booked and if you haven't hit six figures, I would do those three things every single day. Respond to five people who follow you, respond to five people that you follow, and comment on five well-known accounts, responding to comments that are already on those posts. And this will compound. And this is not sexy and I understand that. But this is how you build rapport. This is how you learn to talk to humans in a digital format. I can't say enough good things about it. This is what moved my business forward. And like I said, it's not sexy, it's not like this pure potentiality and belief and manifestation and even though I teach those things I was still doing those things. While I was believing in bigger possibilities and potentialities, I was still DMing people. And that's the reality that we live in is that business is a three dimensional effort. And so if you're not taking action in the 3D, you're missing a huge part of what makes a business work.
And so I would say the best of both worlds is, is you're believing new thoughts, you're believing in potentiality, you're expanding your mind and you're taking those like, I would say business fundamental actions, right? The DMs, commenting, posting content. So obviously having conversations isn't a leveraged way to grow your business, but it absolutely works. And I also think, this is an important piece, is that it's a way to collect ideas for your content.
So when you're DMing someone answering questions or like hearing them share their story or what they're struggling with. You get ideas for content. So that is a goldmine because you're talking to the real people who you're trying to create content for. And so I think I can't say enough good things about actual real conversations, especially if you do high ticket or life coaching where you're talking to someone one on one. Like the way that you can sell one on one the best is to give them the experience of that. Even in a DM conversation, they get the feel for what it would be like to work with you. So I can't say enough good things about doing that.
The next thing I want to talk about is to have a content ecosystem. So phase one looks like publishing short form content on one platform. For me, this was like I post content on Instagram. For some of you, it's like I post content on Facebook or LinkedIn. Phase two is like, okay, I've been posting on one platform, now I'm going to write longer content on that same platform.
So maybe instead of a single post, you add a carousel, maybe instead of a 15 second reel, like you add a 90 second reel, right? You start to create longer content. Phase three is to introduce a long form platform like an email list, podcast, YouTube channel or a combination. As you know, I have an email list and a podcast, you're listening to it. And so I also write long form content to my email list. Phase four is to cross promote on each platform.
As an example, you would write short posts on Instagram and encourage people to listen to your podcast where you talk about it more in depth. It could be as simple as that. And phase five, which is what I'm really excited about is like create your own content world, like your own universe. So over time, people will understand the vocabulary and lingo you use.
They will understand your concepts and frameworks and the paradigm that you see the world with. They will get you, and they will be absorbed in your digital footprint that you are creating for them. Which is very, very cool. So I think that Phase 5 is like, when I say something like, be in the miracle, my clients understand what that means.
See clients and their power is something that my clients understand because I use that language over and over and over again. Believe in pure potentiality is something that I use, right? That doesn't belong to me, but it is a concept that I teach and have taught, in my content for years.
And so I start to live in the minds of my followers and you can live in the minds of your followers and clients too as you create your own content world. That's part of the ecosystem.
Phase one and phase two, when you're just starting on a platform and you're starting to try to get good at it. It’s tedious, I will say that. I would say prioritize DMS and connections while you're figuring out the content game. Once you get to phase three, which is like you're introducing an email list or a podcast, it's like where you start to expand your ideas and make it easy for people to get to know you without having to hop on a call. And this is ginormously advantageous for you. I like to think of this as like the beginning of your digital leverage, right? I have podcasts for the past few years so people can find me and binge my content.
And now we have a relationship, but I never had to get on a call. And then maybe they join the Sprints or they joined the Matrix and I didn't need to have a consult with them. I don't think that's the end all be all for people, but for me, I wanted a good mix. Like I love having one on one clients, but I also have other ways for people to work with me.
So digital leverage made sense. And I think it's a useful tool. If you ever want to sell something at scale or without having to talk to people one on one, content is your friend. In phase four and five, where you start to cross promote on each platform and you create your own content world. Like people start buying without you needing to know them.
And this is where you see people pop up as an overnight success, and I don't believe in that but you know what I mean. Where it's like the compound effect becomes very real and like they have a huge launch or their content goes viral or whatever. And they seem to have created success overnight. It was because of digital leverage you can count on that.
So let's talk about how to digitize your consciousness, in general. One, be an eternal student. This came really easy for me, it seems like it comes really easy for you if you're listening to a podcast like this. Always be consuming content related to your interests, goals, and problems you're trying to solve for in your life.
Number two, collect great ideas and metabolize the content. This was really important. I actually just taught this in The Matrix. If you're listening and you're a member of The Matrix, we talked about metabolizing your content because you can't just consume and then regurgitate, right? You have to spend time with the ideas from the authors and creators that you're consuming.
So I like to keep a document where I write down my favorite quotes or concepts and I kind of let it stew inside of me. The next phase is, number three, teach those concepts to others. Preferably in social media, like we talked about posts, podcasts, blog, etc. Teaching concepts publicly is how you start creating a body of work that attracts an audience, which is exactly what we are trying to do when you digitize your consciousness.
So 3A, create short form content as a way to grow an audience. 3B, create medium and long form content as a way to nurture your audience. 3C, include promotions within your content ecosystem to talk about your offers. Study psychology, marketing, and sales to do this well.
Number 4, iterate and pivot as you go. You can't get to level 10 without ascending through level 1, level 2, level 3, etc. You must start and actually be publishing content to work through these levels. And so I would say the best time to start was, you know, five years ago, ten years ago. But the second best time is today, like really committing to be a content creator. Many of you already are.
And so you're going to work on mastering marketing and sales and persuasion. And you are a business ascension model and raising your prices. And some of you are not publishing content at all. And this message is for you is, just start publishing. It makes sense while we're in the middle of this episode. I'm going to plug in Bespoke Business Sprints. Many of you are already in Bespoke Business Sprints, which is awesome. But many of you aren't. And so you are officially invited. I am literally walking people through a process to create a brand, short form content, medium form content, long form content, making promotions, marketing and sales.
And I'm doing this live in a business cohort. So if you want to learn more and to join, we've already started, but we still have quite a few weeks to go. So you can do a lot of the work live, but you can also catch up with the calls that are already recorded and in the members area for you. And you can go to www.itsambersmith.com/sprints. And like I said, it's already started. Once you join, you'd get immediate access to the members area and you can come to our next live call, which is on Tuesday when you're listening to this. If you're listening to this on Friday.
Okay. How to monetize your mind. Share your thoughts online. Talk to people who are on a similar journey as you. Learn the art of self promotion, which will be a future episode. Increase your tolerance for success and financial rewards for sharing value and just don't quit.
The last thing I'm going to add here is that this is not an overnight success plan. I wish I could give you that. But this is about your learning and growing and documenting your progress publicly so your people will want to find out how they can work with you and how you can help them specifically. Obviously, this takes time and skill and belief and commitment. I've been doing online business for five years and I really feel like I only got the digital part within like the last three years.
Actually, even like the last two years, I felt like I've really understood the digital game. And so this is a long haul effort. And the last thing I'll share is that your commitment is what creates room for miracles. And what I share today, I share lots of frameworks and ideas for you, and I hope you joined the Bespoke Business Sprint so that we can actually create content together and how it works in your own ecosystem.
Even if you don't, you can walk away from this episode knowing you're going to publish content, you're going to use what you learn in your books, in your podcast that you are learning from as a student. You are going to take time to, what I think of as like metabolize it in you, so that it becomes something new so you can use it.
It's not just a regurgitation. It's something that becomes your own, right? You're sharing your stories, your insight, your perspective with people who are on a similar path to you. And there will be people that you can impact that other people cannot just because of who you are in the world. And that is very cool.
It is also a big responsibility and a very cool opportunity. And so just tap back into how cool this opportunity is that we get to even call ourselves coaches and creators, that we get to speak to people on the internet all over the world and try to help them. That's what it means to digitize your consciousness is like really using your thoughts to make lives better. People that you might not ever meet and that's just a really cool realization.
So I hope this helps you and I hope you join the Sprints if it feels aligned to you and I will see you soon. Bye
