The Conscious Coach Letter

When Bad Things Happen (And You Still Want Business Growth)

Dec 04, 2023

It's obvious, but coaches are human too.

Leaders are human.

Parents are human.

A question I help my clients navigate a lot is how do I handle tragedy, crisis, illness, relationship problems, etc.... and still grow my business with integrity?

Here are some of my thoughts:

Find your "non-negotiables" aka the smallest things that make a difference, that you're committed to doing no matter what.

As an example, my grandpa's funeral was last Saturday and the presale to Conscious Coach Academy ended Friday night.

I had a lot going on with my parents staying at my house, funeral and family activities, etc. My non-negotiables were post every day on Instagram about CCA presale, and send 4 emails.

It wasn't anything fancy, but it worked.

Simplify Simplify Simplify

Business, especially a coaching business, can be really simple. We have to let go of our idea that overworking somehow qualifies us or makes us worthy of success.

We have to really believe in our worthiness to receive and create success with minimal effort.

Simplifying might look like cancelling calls if needed, doing the bare minimum on social media, writing a shorter-than-usual weekly email, or repurposing content for a podcast. (I've personally done all of those when I've had heavy personal stuff come up.)

Be Honest With Yourself

 Do you need time alone?

Do you need to cry?

Do you just want to work?

Do you want a break?

There have been times where working has actually felt good and made sense for the time, even though some people didn't understand it... I allowed myself to work when it feels good.

Sometimes, taking a break, disappearing, pushing pause... that felt good so I did it.

I trust myself to make decisions for the highest good, and the highest good doesn't have to make sense to everyone else. It has to feel right to me.

Do what feels right for you and trust yourself.

Trust Leverage, Trust Miracles

This has been a huge one for me... learning to trust the leverage I'e built into my business. And trusting God's grace, or support from The Universe or however you want to think about it.

There have been times where the math on paper didn't make sense, but I trusted... so I got the growth I wanted.

Trusting leverage look like--

- believing people can binge your old content even while you're not creating new content

- believing clients want to work with you even if you're not actively selling

- believing clients will reach out to you even if you're in algorithm jail

- believing the relationships you've built over time will turn into paying clients, referrals, etc.

- believing people can go through your older courses and get value

- believing people will feel nurtured by your online presence even if you've taken a break

to name a few.

Especially when you're dealing with a lot in your personal life (death, loss, relationship problems, financial problems, you name it) it's important to activate those kinds of beliefs about your business.

What you DON'T want to do is layer on guilt or shame or frustration about your business on top of your already difficult personal circumstances.....

That doesn't help.

You can grieve and sign clients.

You can feel sadness or despair and still grow your audience.

You can spend time more with your loved ones and still grow your income.

If those are the things you want.

It takes diligence, persistence, and frankly,... practice.

New beliefs are practiced.

New levels of trust and faith are practiced.

New realities are practiced.

Your are deserving of EVERYTHING you want, even if you brain finds it hard to believe this, you can teach it to believe something different. That's coaching. And it's what I love to do.

I hope this serves you, whatever you're holding or whatever you're navigating right now....

You got this.

Love,

Amber
