Friday Five: Questions to Get Closure and Clarity From January

Jan 30, 2025

January is often the month that feels like a launchpad.

A fresh start.

And now it's over...

Take time to reflect to get closure and perspective instead of just jumping into February.

5 Questions to get closure and clarity from January.

1. What went well?

If you're like many of my clients, your brain tends to skip over what went well and is constantly looking for what's next or what you need to fix.

Slowing down and actually writing down some highlights helps you cultivate the spirit of abundance and a sense of gratitude for yourself and what you've accomplished.

What went well?

Life. Family. Business. Personal development. Parenting. Art. Client work. Team development. Whatever it is, write it down.

2. What did you learn?

Whether it's a new skill for business,  a function of the brain you learned about, or a new way of approaching goals...

What did you learn in January?

Browse your calendar, look through the content you published, or even scroll through your Amazon cart to see what books you bought.

We often forget to acknowledge how much we are learning day to day because of how quickly new information is available.

Make a little list for yourself to get closure. You aren't in the same place you began the year because you learned something.

3. What new thing did you try?

Similar to question 2, but this is about experience.

Did you try to launch something new?

Did you cook a new recipe?

Go to a new restaurant?

4. What is a top memory you want to record about January 2025?

Family, business, creative work, friendship, travel, spiritual experience, or anything in between...

We have two selves we do things for.

Our current self.

And our future self.

I think about this a lot as Im raising my three daughters. Many of the experiences I choose to create are for my future self, so I can have the memory to look back on. Fun now, and memorable later.

Win for now, and win for later.

Writing down our memories will help us look back one day when we are reflecting on the past.

5. What will you do differently next month?

This one is a potent question to ask yourself if you're on a growth trajectory.

One word of caution: don't answer this question through the lens of self-judgment or criticism.

Answer it through the lens of possibility.

What will you differently next month to align better with your personal and career goals?

What will you do differently next month to help you have more joy?

What will you do differently next month to be more creative?

What will you do differently next month to be more productive in the areas that matter most?

What will you do differently next month to feel more love?

Okay, that's a wrap for this week's Friday Five.

Enjoy your reflection time with these questions :)

Until next time,

Amber
