Friday Five: on creating what you want

Feb 07, 2025

#1

One of my favorite questions to ask myself is

"If all things were possible, what would I love?"

It's great for a journal entry, when you're trying to make a decision, when you're at a plateau, or starting fresh on a project.

Don't try to figure out more details. The point of this question is clarity.
Once you have clarity about what you want, you can line up the beliefs and actions that support creating it.

Using the Conscious Creation Matrix (from my book Quiet Wealth)

The ideal: clear desire + detachment.

It doesn't mean you stop caring. It means you trade your addictions to certain outcomes for preferences.

Listen to my podcast episode #136 about this called "Consciously Creating What You Want"

A quote I love:

"The first step to getting what you want I to have the courage to get rid of what you don't" - Zig Ziglar

What are appointments, tasks, and even relationships you can let go of in order to more fully create what you want?

The Energy Audit (from Rich Litvin)

I shared this with a client recently. I learned it from one of my mentors Rich Living (www.richlitvin.com)

This is where you take time to review what gives you energy and what drains your energy.

You can click here to use the tool from his website.

Dopamine Detox and Digital Dementia

This has been coming up a lot recently on client calls too-- how our phone usage is draining our joy.

If it's hard to feel joy for the little things, and you notice you're scrolling more than usual.. but might be time to take a little digital brake.

You can delete addicting apps off of your phone, give yourself a challenge to spend less than an hour of screen time everyday, or get off social media for a chunk of time.

And.

Choose what you're going to do instead.

Go for a walk outside.

Hit the gym.

Read a book.

It doesn't have to be fancy. Just choose something that feels more life giving. This is part of creating what you really want instead of defaulting to more phone use (which is something most of us do not want.)

I really enjoyed reading The Wealth Money Can't Buy by Robin Sharma who gave me new insight on this too.

Ok, that's a wrap for today!

Happy Friday :)

Thanks for reading.
