I started my online business in 2018, while I was nursing my baby and navigating raising my 2 year old.I studied marketing, content, coaching, mindset, copywriting, all of it… with a vision of working part time and making $100k a year.
I started my business to be able to just make ends meet. Realizing what I've created since I got started made me feel excited and grateful. I way surpassed my vision, and I'm just getting started.
Working part time. Making multi-six figures. Traveling with my family. Investing in support at home and in business. Doing work I love and making quadruple what I would have made if I stuck with my plan to become a therapist....
What's crazy is I didn't even realize this until I got curious about it, but here's the thing… I'm not sharing that so you think I'm cool (even though of course my ego would love to know you think I'm cool haha) I'm sharing this because this used to feel totally impossible for me.
I'm writing this as a way to document my own thoughts and lessons about this journey, in hopes that it inspires you and is useful as you're on your own journey to creating your impossible.
The Importance of Spiritual Grit
I write a lot about spiritual grit, because that has been the foundation of all my success. I teach mindset and abundance principles, but I also teach dedication, commitment, and hard work. The combination of being spiritually minded and willing to stick with it is a magical formula to creating the impossible. The thing is, most of the day in day out work is not sexy.
To develop spiritual grit, you need:
- a clear direction/vision for what you want
- a willingness to do the inner work
- a path for experimentation
- the ability to learn and adjust when you encounter setbacks
- the drive to keep going when it looks like its not working
- the spiritual perspective to find joy and meaning along the way
Developing an Abundant Heart
Even though I started my journey as a blogger, researching SEO, ads, and funnels… I found teachings that transformed my entire life in the spiritual side of the internet. Learning how to shift my perspective, drop my judgments, be in harmony with life, and how to be fully present changed so much about who I was as a person, it rippled into my business without a doubt. mAfter finding tools, books, and ideas about the true nature of life - abundance - I started seeing business as a vessel for me to serve others, to create prosperity for me and my family, and to be a blessing to the world. Having an abundant heart helped me show up meaningfully even though in the beginning no one cared what I did, I had a tiny audience, and I made less than $600/month. I showed up with a willingness to serve and to be a resource for the people who I could help. The dedication and devotion to that work helped me exponentially grow my income me
Cultivate an Abundant Heart:
- become aware of yourself, thoughts, patterns, and judgments
- do the work to release any thoughts, patterns, and judgments that do not uplift or serve yourself and others
- see infinite possibilities everywhere
- believe it is good for the world when you get what you want
- be generous, think of yourself as a portal for prosperity
- choose love instead of fear
- summon the spirit of gratitude and awe
- study great works and mentors who expand your mind
- stay humble and ego-less
A Quantum Leap in Income is Created Because of a Quantum Leap in Value
When I started my business, making barely any money, I was focused on the wrong things:
- building unnecessary funnels
- learning skills that weren't mission focused like ads
- comparing myself to others who didn't have my vision
I wanted a quantum leap experience, but I was missing a basic truth: we get by giving, not by learning.
I learned skills, concepts, psychological tools, coaching perspectives, business tactics… but they didn't really lead me anywhere new.
When I started using all my knowledge and experience to be a blessing to others and create real value for the people in my sphere.. everything started to change.
I started growing my income exponentially when I started solving real problems in the marketplace, when I got absorbed in making my community and circle of clients better.
My clients renewed over and over again
I got referrals
My network grew
I was invited to speak at events
People found me online and asked how they could work with me
The game was so much easier when I got serious about being a resource for people who were in touch with me.
One of my favorite books Happier Than God by Neale Donald Walsch has the true formula and proper use for the law of personal creation: "to create a happy, peaceful, joyous life for everyone whose life you touch, and for you, in that order"
I had studied law of attraction, manifestation, quantum leaps, and money for a long time.. but reading that line changed everything for me. s, aI stopped focusing on how I could make money and got borderline obsessed with how I could help other people achieve their dreams.
My content was focused on being useful for other people.
My conversations were about helping other people get what they wanted. I answered questions, shared resources, solved problems, offered solutions, and created pathways for people who resonated with me to create their impossible….
And it came back tenfold to me.
Practical Ways to Add More Value:
- talk about your potential clients problems (this is empathy)
- create solutions for them and share them ialcreate more touch-points for people to interact with you (Voxer experiences, masterclasses, events)
- think about what your client is stressed about and solve it
- develop your consistency muscle— be the lighthouse share your processes and what works for you (this letter is an example of that)
That's what I have learned to genuinely love about this game. When you give with an abundant heart, it always comes back in expected and unexpected ways.
Instead of getting consumed with what you're gonna get… get consumed with how you can be a better giver. Your business will blossom.
What if it isn't about you?
What if business was about being a blessing to people in the sphere of your influence?
What if money was just the byproduct of that? Food for thought.
Thanks for reading :)
